Dr. Benjamin is the only fellowship certified Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine specialist in the state of Vermont, having trained at Johns Hopkins and the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. While Dr. Benjamin sees both children and adult rehab patients, it’s his love pediatric rehab medicine that makes it all worth while. Pediatric patients come from a large area as far west as Messina, NY, as far south as Brattleboro and as far north as Newport. His particular area of expertise and interest is in the management of issues related to Cerebral Palsy, including therapies, equipment, bracing and spasticity management with botulinum toxin (e.g. Botox, Dysport, Myobloc) injections.
He also sees children with a variety of issues including Chronic Toe Walking, Joint Hypermobility, Torticollis, brain injuries, and various genetic and other diagnoses that lead to developmental and functional disabilities.
Dr. Benjamin will also continue to participate in the multi-specialty MDA and Spina Bifida clinics at the Vermont Children’s Hospital at UVM.
He really finds that the work with kids is the most fun part of the job. His approach is playful and kind, seeking to make a visit that can be scary and uncomfortable as happy, enjoyable and safe as possible.
