Individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries suffer many issues, but can still have productive meaningful lives. Injuries may be partial, with some movement loss and sensory changes; or complete, with no movement or sensation below the level of injury.  Injuries to the cervical spinal cord lead to quadriplegia and injuries in the thoracic or lumbar spinal cord lead to paraplegia.  Weakness, breathing and lung health, pain, spasticity, bowel and bladder issues are part of the chronic management.  Sexuality, social access, and vocation are also considerations to be addressed.  Dr. Benjamin is experienced with all of the issues related to spinal cord injuries.  He can prescribe spasticity treatments including Botulinum Toxin, Baclofen, Tizanidine and others.  He is familiar with wheelchair issues, bracing, and other equipment.  Will be able to help strategize and monitor bowel and bladder function.  Issues of sexuality are not overlooked.  And he’s connected with adaptive sports in the area.
